2027 FSGP COLLEGIATE ARTIST COMPETITION

Open to flutists enrolled full-time as undergraduate students at a college or university for the 2026–2027 academic year who meet at least one of the following location requirements:

1) Their college or university is located within a 75-mile radius of Philadelphia City Hall; or
2) Their permanent residence is located within a 75-mile radius of Philadelphia City Hall.

Conservatory students are not eligible for this competition, but are eligible to enter the 2027 FSGP Young Artist Competition.


ELIGIBILITY AND RULES


1) Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at a college or university for the 2026–2027 academic year and meet at least one of the following location requirements:


1) Entrant's college or university is located within a 75-mile radius of Philadelphia City Hall; or

2) Entrant's permanent residence is located within a 75-mile radius of Philadelphia City Hall.


Conservatory students are not eligible for this competition, but are eligible to enter the 2027 FSGP Young Artist Competition.

2) FSGP membership is required. To enter the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia's Collegiate Artist Competition, you must first join FSGP as an BASIC ADULT Member (regardless of age or school year). You may then log in through the website to access the entry form.

3) Collegiate Artist Competition entrants must be at least 17 years or older as of February 27, 2027.

4) The competition entry fee is $55. (This does not include the membership fee.) Entry and membership fees are non-refundable.

5) Previous First Place Winners of the Collegiate Artist Competition are not eligible to compete again.

TIMELINE

1) Completed Entry Form, Fee, and VIDEO RECORDING links (uploaded with entry form) must be received by 11:59pm (EST) on January 3, 2027. 

Up to six (6) Finalists will be selected and notified on or before February 7, 2027. 

3) The Final Round will be held in person on Friday, February 26, 2027 at the Wells School of Music, West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS

First, Second, and Third Place prize winners will be notified on Friday, February 26, immediately following the completion of the Final Round performances and adjudication. 

First, Second, and Third Place prize winners are required to perform at the Winners' Recital which will take place the following day (2/27/2026) at our Flute Fair. All Finalists are expected to attend the Winners' Recital.

Third Place: $200



PRELIMINARY ROUND

The Preliminary Round is a Video Recorded Round.


PRELIMINARY ROUND PROCEDURES


1) Files must be in VIDEO Format with links to a private YouTube channel uploaded with entry form on or before January 3, 2027 by 11:59pm (EST). 


2)  Provide private YouTube links for each one of your pieces. You may record your pieces in one video or separate them into two videos. 


3) To guarantee anonymous adjudication, please do not talk or identify yourself in any way on your recordings. Teachers should not be visible at any time in your video recording.


PRELIMINARY ROUND REPERTOIRE

One work or movement from a multi-movement work (originally composed for flute solo or flute and piano) from the Baroque or Classical eras (prior to 1820).

AND

One work or movement from a multi-movement work (originally composed for flute solo or flute and piano) from the Romantic to Contemporary eras (after 1820).

Total performance time should not exceed 15 minutes.


FINAL ROUND

The Final Round is held in person at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. 

FINAL ROUND PROCEDURES

1) Up to six finalists will perform in person for the Final Round judges on February 26, 2027 at the Wells School of Music, West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

2) Finalists will receive information about local collaborative pianists.

3) Finalists’ and Winners' names, photos, and bios will be posted on the FSGP website and social media pages on March 1, 2027. 

4) First, Second, and Third Place prize winners are required to perform at the Winners' Recital which will take place the following day at our annual Flute Fair. Please plan accordingly. The piece or pieces that they will perform will be selected by the judges.

FINAL ROUND REPERTOIRE

Final Round Repertoire is the same as the submitted pieces from the Preliminary Round. No substitutions will be allowed.



Failure to meet any of the above deadlines or requirements may result in forfeiture. All fees are non-refundable.
