Dr. Chris Potter is an international low flutes specialist, conductor, arranger, and teacher. She was the first chair of the NFA’s Low Flutes Committee, organized the first International Low Flutes Festival in 2018, started the NFA’s Alto Flute Competition, and is a featured artist at the online 2022 International Low Flutes Festival. She conducted a Low Flutes Choir for six years at the Sir James Galway’s Flute Festival in Switzerland. Chris has commissioned and premiered many works for low flutes including Katherine Hoover’s “Two for Two” and “LowDown,” Mike Mower’s “Obstinato and Scareso” and Matthias Ziegler’s “Low Flutes at High Tides.” Her Alto and Bass Methods are the definitive method books for those instruments and are available at the Flute Pro Shop as well as worldwide.
